The Peaceful Side Of Pattaya

Pattaya is one of Thailand’s top destinations. Its white, sandy beaches, its high-class resorts, and azure seas are all situated near bustling city shops, and wide, verdant forests. So, basically, it’s a scenic location, grade-A postcard material and all that. But the thing is, Bangkok and Thailand are tourist destinations because they’re lively. And Pattaya is no different. Like I said, bustling city shops near the beaches.

From this 4 star resort in Pattaya, I can hear all the goings-on at ground level. People walking around, shops calling to potential customers, hoping to make a profit, and that’s only on one side of the horizon. On the other side, before the endless expanse of water, lie crowded beaches, filled with swimmers, tanners, and volleyball players.

Pattaya certainly lacks not for energy, I can assure you. And it is quite beautiful, for lack of a better term, it really is. I’m not doubting the allure of it all, make no mistake, I simply find myself lacking for a more appropriate term with which to describe it all with. But, I digress.

I came to Pattaya to relax; to get rid of all that baggage and stress from the usual metropolitan routine. So, I went out and about, roaming the island, looking for that silent strip of seaside land unperturbed by the life and energy of the usual Pattaya beach.

How long I walked, searching, I wasn’t sure. The hustle and bustle of Pattaya rarely, if ever, seemed to slow down, regardless of the time of day.

But, after a while, I found my little corner of peace in the island. A boat, floating calmly amidst azure atmosphere. It was serene, still, silent. No footsteps on concrete, no crackling of food being cooked on heated pans. It was nice. A few hours of nothing but peace. Time drifted away, carried off on the flow of such silence. I enjoyed every moment of it. It was nice, to get away from it all.

This 4 star resort in Pattaya seems so loud compared to the beach, but it’s quiet, in comparison to the bustle of the island below. Still, I miss that level of silence from that secluded strip of the beach.
